Description
Rebutia fabrisii is a dwarf clumping cactus with olive green stems and beautiful bright orange blooms. Its stems are organized into loose ribs or tubercules and the spines are bristly. Despite their clumping nature, they can be easily managed in pots by division. Rebutia fabrisii comes from mountainous areas, so it likes bright light, and cool and dry conditions in the winter. In areas with frost or occasional black frost, its best advised to bring indoors into a sunny spot in a window sill. They need a soil with great drainage, and very little water to prevent rot. Pick containers with drainage holes and use well-draining cactus and succulent soil mix. We use a mix of washed river sand, good quality fine compost, buffered fine coco coir and vermiculite / perlite. Cacti and succulents do not like their roots to be in wet or moist soil for prolonged periods as it may lead to root rot and other fungal diseases. The general rule is to ensure the soil is dry before watering. This variety is found in Argentina.
