Description
Nananthus vittatus is a low, multi-branching dwarf succulent, forming a mat with short thick succulent leaves arranged in low rosettes and thick carrot-like roots, will eventually form large caudex in time. It is very cold hardy. Small, yellow daisy like flowers are approx 2 cm in diameter. It comes from a predominantly winter rainfall region, from parts of the Northern cape and into parts of the North West Province of South Africa. The prefer a sandy soil mix that drains away easily. It is recommended to replant once a caudex have developed. Slightly raise the plant to expose the caudex and plant the roots shallow. this will encourage the plant to thicken the caudex. Over time this will create a mini bonsai effect.
